|My Wild Life, Boz Boorer
Raucous RAUCD 126
Boz (Martin) Boorer is legendary on the rockabilly scene. He studied music to 'A' level in school, and then he joined The Polecats. Among the many bands he has played with are The Polecats, Boz And The Bozmen, Ronnie Dawson, The Deltas, John's Children, Blubbery Hellbellies, Adam Ant, David Bowie, Joan Armatrading, Adam Ant, Edwyn Collins, Jools Holland, Jet Black Machine and has even toured Japan with all girl rockabilly band The Shillelagh Sisters who were ostensibly an all-girl band. This entailed a certain amount of 'dressing up'.
In 1984, Boz joined the Chrysalis organisation as a studio engineer, and in 1991 he joined Morrissey's band as musical director, also gaining some writing credits. This band also featured ex-Nitro Gary Day on bass. Today (2003) Boz also owns NV Records and runs his own "House of Boz Recording Studio", and is an avid record collector, especially of rockabilly stuff of course. With this mutual passion, it's easy to see why Morrissey and Boz are a natural combination - he has become one of Mozz's writers and mainstay players in recent years. In addition Boz did some 1995 live shows with Kirsty MacColl's band.
This CD contains the whole of the "My Wild Life's Gonna Get Me Down" limited edition 10" LP, with a whole bunch of previously unissued cuts, gathering together 17 cuts of real rockabilly, hillbilly boogie and blues bop, displaying his talents not only as an excellent guitarist, singer and songwriter, but an all-round musician. He plays all instruments throughout this album - drums, bass, piano, saxophone...
Boz Boorer is a high profile, hard working artist who has charted many times in his different guises, and regularly makes live appearances in many countries playing with number of different bands, or as solo performer. This new CD release will be welcomed by his fans worldwide.
