|Larry Donn, Honey Bun|
Larry Donn was born in a very small town in Northeast Arkansas. He is certainly no newcomer to the world of music, having started his own small rock and roll band in 1957 and his first record "Honey-Bun" was released in 1959. It did reasonably well in the mid-south and is an absolute must for rock and roll collectors. Larry quickly got a reputation as one of the most promising rock and rollers in the south. Me made several recordings for SUN Records but nothing was issued. In 1962 he became a disc-jockey, working as a musician at night. After having been station manager he left to become production supervisor for a local television station.
However after years of tight schedules and constant pressure his love for music won out and he once again became a full time entertainer. He has shared the spotlight with many of the top names in the entertainment world and played with the famous mar-Keys of Memphis for a time. Larry still lives within three miles of the house he was born in and after an early life of picking cotton in the fields and working in the cotton gin and grocery store there he says he'll always live there because after touring 30 States and 2 foreign countries, he still hasn't found any place he likes better.
Together with his friend Sonny Burgess he made a few recordings, some of which appear on the Collector LP "Sonny Burgess and Larry Donn - Rock-a-billy" (LP8817).
