Ellis & The Angry Teens, Booze-Fuelled Rock 'N' Roll

Hailing from Finland, Teddy Boy trio Ellis & The Angry Teens have been one of the top bands in modern years, with their tough ted sound all over Europe and many record releases. A household name on the scene for quite some time now (they already had a 10-date tour of the UK back in '97), these Finnish guys have played the top fests all over Europe, and the last remaining country that they had yet to appear, Holland, saw their first appearance at the 3rd Dutch Teddy Boy Weekend in Vlissingen.

During the hard stompin' booze-fuelled rockin' gig in Vlissingen, Ellis stated (and I quote): "Rockabilly was born in Finland in 1975. No, it's not American music, it Finnish!". He said this after a superb rendition of "Broken Heart", which was originally done by Teddy & The Tigers on their memorable LP "Tiger Tracks" (says Ellis) and not by The Moonlighters (TARA 100, 1958). A long time Teddy Guitar fan, Ellis is making a statement here, and in a way he is right too. In the 70s and 80s, Finland was one of the biggest suppliers of fantastic rockabilly bands in Europe, and for a whole new generation of Teds and Rockers in Scandinavia, this was their "orginal" music. After this statement, which is hereby written down in the Teddy Boy annals, the band carried on with another scorching classic, Teddy Guitar style, "Rock Around With Ollie Vee". A fantastic set, as part of an overall fantastic evening at the 3rd Dutch Teddy Boy Festival on March 5, 2005.
