The Doubleshots, Rockabilly Blues

The Doubleshots were formed in the late summer of 2001, after guitar-player Ruben walked into a bar named "Bukkus". At the time a local band - Ol' Man Trouble - was tearing up the place with their interim bass-player, Mike "The Trigger" Sedee. After the show Ruben came up to Mike and told him "We gotta play in a band together!" So, Ruben hooked up his longtime friend Sebastian and The Doubleshots were go! The first rehearsal was late august, and two weeks later they played at "Doornroosje" (Nijmegen, Holland) - a hell of a show! Although they weren't allowed to play longer than 30 minutes, they teared the place right up!

From the beginning The Doubleshots had in mind very clearly what they were gonna do: mix a dirty, swampish shuffling blues-sound with a hardhitting 'n' pumpin' rockabilly-beat. The Doubleshots also call it "rockabilly-blues". For the lads in the band this means to turn up the volume of the original '61 Fender Vibrolux-amp beyond ten (not to speak of the slaying technique on those poor screaming big fat strings), slap the strings of the bass right through that huge doghouse, and hit the skins harder than a Neanderthaler who just caught a steer. Mainly, The Doubleshots are influenced by the likes of The Paladins, the early recordings of The Fabulous Thunderbirds, The Blasters, Stevie Ray Vaughan, but also by older heroes like Joe Clay, Elvis Presley, Johnny Burnette, Eddie Bond, John Lee Hooker and T-Bone Walker.
